Brajendra Navnit (India’s ambassador to WTO tenure get extended)

Brajendra Navnit- GOI had approved the extension of the tenure of Brajendra Navnit as Ambassador of India for the World Trade Organisation for nine months till 31 March next year. This decision is taken before the crucial 13th ministerial conference of the WTO in 2024. 

Who is Brajendra Navnit

Brajendra Navnit is the year 1999 IAS officer who was a graduate engineer from MNIT Jaipur. His work experience includes working for 12 years in either economic ministries or handling related subjects in the Prime Minister’s Office. During his tenure with the Government of India, he worked in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs as Deputy Secretary (Budget), Director in the Prime Minister’s Office and Joint Secretary to the Prime Minister. He is also the chief architect of one of the first Medium Term Fiscal Plans (MTFP) of a State government in the country. He was also actively involved in the drafting of one of the 1st fiscal responsibility legislations for any State Government in India. He 1st assumed charge as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of India to the WTO, Geneva on 29th June 2020.
