A distinguished BJP leader becomes S Phangnon Konyak becomes Nagaland’s first female Rajya Sabha MP, achieving a historic feat as she took on the role of presiding over the Rajya Sabha, marking as the first woman from Nagaland to assume this prestigious position. She belongs to  Nagaland and holds the position of State President of BJP Mahila Morcha in her region. In addition to it, She becomes the inaugural woman member to be appointed to the panel of vice-chairpersons. With significant steps, Salhoutuonuo Kruse and Hekani Jakhalu, both representing the ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, became the first women candidates to be elected in the state assembly election.
