PM Modi started the ‘Cannabis Research Project’ in CSIR-IIIM Jammu, under the presence of Dr Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM, with a partnership with a Canadian firm ‘IndusScan’. In the presence of Dr Jitendra Singh( Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space), who visited the Chatha Farm and takes cognizance of the cultivation practices in the protected area and research work being carried out on this important plant. In the press realase, the Minster is essential from the perspective of Atma-Nirbhar Bharat as they are seeking all government approval and India will be able to produce export quality drugs meant for different kinds of neuropathies, diabetic pains etc.  CSIR-IIIM is the oldest scientific research institute in India with a history of discovering the mint way back in the 1960s, the centre of the purple revolution now the Cannabis Research Project of CSIR-IIIM is going to make it more prestigious in terms of scientific research in India. Among others present on the occasion were Er. Abdul Rahim, Chief Scientist and Head of RMBD & IST Division, Dr Dhiraj Vyas, Sr. Principal Scientist & Head, of PSA Division, Dr. Sumit Gandhi, Sr. Principal Scientist & Head, IDD Division, Dr. P.P. Singh, Principal Investigator, Cannabis Research Project and Dr. Saurabh Saran, Principal Scientist and I/C Technology Business Incubator and Atal Incubation Centre.
