Border Roads Organisation (BRO) started building the ‘Likaru-Mig La-Fukche’ road in Ladakh’s Demchok sector in Eastern Ladakh

Likaru-Mig La-Fukche’ In the recent improvement, the BRO initiated the construction of the ‘Likaru-Mig La-Fukche’ road in Ladakh’s Demchok sector in Eastern Ladakh with the purpose of establishing the world’s highest motorable road. This road is built at an altitude of approximately 19,400 feet, spanning a length of 64 kilometres. It was launched on India’s 77th Independence Day, as it is a strategic road at Fukche, which is a mere three kilometres away from the contested Line of Actual Control (LAC). In addition to this project, there are 2 additional projects named the construction of the Shinku La Tunnel and  the construction of the ‘Nyoma Airfield,’ located in Eastern Ladakh

‘Likaru-Mig La-Fukche’ road in Ladakh will provide connectivity to the military’s farthest outposts in the Fukche which lies 3 km from the  Line of Actual Control (LAC) where this road will pass through an altitude of 19,400 feet and will be the world’s highest motorable road surpassing the Umling La Pass. For this construction, an all-woman unit of the BRO had been included in which there are a five-member team of women combat engineers supervised by Colonel Ponung Doming
