Delhi’s first ‘water ATM’ Recently, CM of the Delhi government launched the 1st ever-water ATM, to provide water in areas without piped water supply.

With the aim to offer water access in regions without piped supply and reduce reliance on water tankers, Arvind Kejriwal initiated the water ATM with 500 Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants, which will be led by the Delhi Jal Board. With a capacity of 30,000 litres, these plants will be operated by appointed personnel on government-provided land, while the cost of ₹10 lahks per plant will be covered by the Delhi Jal Board. Beneficiaries will receive RFID (radio frequency identification) cards from the DJB, where through the RFID card, one individual can obtain 20 litres of water daily at no cost. However, any usage beyond this limit will be subject to a charge of 8 paise per litre.
