Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana In the significant welfare move the government has decided to extend the Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana for an additional two years, where the scheme will be active till the date of June 30, 2024. making the scheme extended to the 3rd time.

Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana in details

Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana is the insurance scheme for employees which comes under Section 2(9) of the ESI Act, 1948, where they are provided monetary benefits in case of unemployment, for 90 days. Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries will receive relief equal to 50% of their average per-day earnings from the preceding four contribution periods, which is calculated as the total earning during those four periods divided by 730.

Eligibility Criteria for Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana

To avail of the benefits offered by Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana:-

  • The person should have been in insurable employment for a minimum of two years before their unemployment.
  • The rate of relief under the scheme was enhanced from 25% of the average daily earnings to 50% of the average daily earnings of the claimant
  • The IP should have been in insurable employment for a minimum of 2 years and should have contributed for not less than 78 days in the contribution period immediately preceding the unemployment and a minimum of 78 days in one of the remaining three contribution periods in two years prior to unemployment. Earlier, a minimum contribution of 78 days in each of the four contribution periods was required.
  • All the Insured Persons covered under ESI Act are entitled under the scheme and no separate registration is required.
  • Mandatory filing through the employer and submission of an affidavit by the claimant was dispensed with.
  • The waiting period to file the claim was reduced from 90 days to 30 days.
