Handball Association of India (HAI)  The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports have provided recognition to The Handball Association of India (HAI) as a National Sports Federation (NSF)

The Handball Association of India (HAI) had been recognised as the National Sports Federation (NSF) by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. At present, HAI holds official affiliations with international governing bodies, including the International Handball Federation and the Asian Handball Federation, as well as the Indian Olympic Association. It is formed on 15th June 1972 by Jagat Singh Lohan, and it serves as a governing body for handball in India and has been a member of the Asian Handball Federation (AHF) and the International Handball Federation (IHF) since 1974. The Handball Association of India (HAI)  is also a member of the Commonwealth Handball Association and the South Asian Handball Federation.
