The former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar  Election Commission had approved the appointment of the Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar as the icon with the aim of spreading awareness regarding the need for greater voter participation in the electoral process. The government body had signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Wednesday.  which is a three-year agreement, especially in General Elections in 2024

Formerly, the Election Commission of India had signed the  Pankaj Tripathi as a national icon. while the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, actor Aamir Khan and boxer Mary were provided the same position by them. Regarding the appointment, Sachin released the statement “Our future voters are very important we are the largest democracy on earth and it’s our responsibility to vote. It’s a responsibility that shouldn’t be Ignored. When I started playing for India I was only 16 years old, All players are from different cultures and that makes us strong. The Cricket World Cup is in October….. people have blocked their calendars for it but we didn’t see the same enthusiasm during voting days. I request you please go out and vote,”
