In U20 World Wrestling Championships, Priya Malik Wins Gold at Jordan

U20 World Wrestling Championships in Jordan Recently Priya Malik from India secures the gold medal in the 76 kg category at the U20 World Wrestling Championships in Jordan by defeating Germany’s Laura Kuehn with a commanding score of 5-0. This victory marks the time when  India has secured two gold medals in the same U20 World Wrestling Championships.

In the event held from August 14 to 20, U20 World Wrestling Championships in Jordan Indian wrestlers finished their campaign at the World Under-20 Wrestling Championships 2023 with 14 medals – four gold, three silver and seven bronze in the week-long event at the Amman International Stadium. The events included a total of 30 Indian wrestlers competing in the 46th edition of the junior wrestling championships, in which  19-year-old Antim Panghal, made history by becoming the first Indian woman to become a U20 wrestling world champion in Sofia, Bulgaria meanwhile Mohit Kumar became the U-20 world champion in the 61kg freestyle category with the score 0-6 score in the final against the Russian Federation’s Eldar Akhmaduninov to win the match 9-8. On the other hand, Priya Malik became only the second Indian woman to be crowned the U-20 world champion, when she defeated Laura Celine Kuehn of Germany 5-0 in the final of the women’s 76kg.
