Utkela Airport in the Kalahandi district is owned by the state government and developed as a regional airport under the Udan scheme of the central government at a cost of Rs 31.07 crore.

Boosting Regional Connectivity, the Indian aviation industry integrated the flight route between Utkela and Bhubaneshwar, which now the flight covering the distance in just one hour and twenty minutes. With it, Odisha’s aviation infrastructure now includes a total of five airports. the scheduled flight will take off at 7:15 AM from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar and arrive at Utkela Airport at 8:25 AM. The same aircraft will depart from Utkela at 8:50 AM and arrive at Bhubaneswar at 10 AM, where Utkela Airport received DGCA approval for flight operations on August 7.
