India’s New Warship Mahendragiri Indian new warship named Mahendragiri is launching on  September 1 at the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders in Mumbai, as the 7th and final stealth frigate of Project 17A, which aimed at enhancing the Indian navel capabilities including improving stealth technology, cutting-edge weaponry, sophisticated sensors and state of the art platform management systems. India’s New Warship Mahendragiri became one of the 7th frigates which was built at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) in Kolkata.

Project 17 explained

Launched in the year of 2019, the project 17 Alpha frigates (P-17A) launched a series of stealth guided-missile frigates, constructed by 2 companies – Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (MDL) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), where these guided-missile frigates are made to reduced the infrared signals of the ship. The first stealth ship launched under Project 17A was the Nilgiri, which was launched in the year 2019, whereas the Udaygiri, the 2nd ship launched in May 2022 to be commissioned in the year 2024.
