Prime Minister initiated Amrit Bharat Station Scheme for 13 railway stations

Amrit Bharat Station Scheme PM Modi launched the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in 13 railway station, aimed at revitalising 1,309 railway stations across the nation, enhancing the overall passenger experience and making them world-class travel hubs, with an investment of ₹25,000 crore. The ambitious project is estimated to cost is ₹24,470 crore. At the launch, PM Modi said “…At 11 AM, the foundation stone to redevelop 508 railway stations across India will be laid under the historic ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’. At a cost of almost ₹25,000 crore, the redevelopment will revolutionise how rail infrastructure is imagined in our nation. It will boost ‘Ease of Living’ and enhance comfort as well as convenience. Special care has also been taken to ensure the stations are in line with local culture, heritage, and architecture,”

Amrit Bharat Station Scheme for 13 railway stations

Launched in February 2023 by the Ministry of Railways, the scheme launched with the aim at redevelop 1,309 stations across the country and is based on Master Planning for the long term and implementation of the same as per the needs and demand of the station-to-station,  beyond the Minimum Essential Amenities. As per reports, The ABSS project aims to make train stations better for passengers. It includes making the entrance and exit areas, waiting rooms, and toilets nicer and more accessible with things like elevators and escalators. The stations will be kept clean and offer free Wi-Fi. There will be special shops selling local products and better ways to know when your train is coming. Also, there will be nice places for business meetings and gardens. Overall, the goal is to make train stations more comfortable and enjoyable for everyone. These 508 stations are spread across 16 states and Union Territories, including 55 each in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, 49 in Bihar, 44 in Maharashtra, 37 in West Bengal, 34 in Madhya Pradesh, 32 in Assam, 25 in Odisha, 22 in Punjab, 21 each in Gujarat and Telangana, 20 in Jharkhand, 18 each in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, 15 in Haryana and 13 in Karnataka.
