Air-Conditioned Truck Cabins Taking a significant step in the automobile, the Indian government mandated the use of air-conditioned Truck Cabins for improved working conditions for truck drivers.

Mandating the Air-Conditioned Truck Cabin

The draft presented by the Centre specifies the use and installation of air-conditioning systems will be mandatory for motor vehicles belonging to categories N2 and N3. effective from  January 1, 2025 onwards. With it, it emphasizes that the cabin fitted with an air-conditioning system must undergo performance testing as per the IS 14618: 2022 standard., for the purpose of compliance with the prescribed quality and safety standards. Regarding it, the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways has also invited comments and suggestions from stakeholders for a period of 30 days from the date of notification.
